Competition Aspects
There are two elements to the design competition: infrastructure & site design, and vehicle design. These will be evaluated independently, and competitors are free to participate in either or both elements.
Infrastructure & Site Design
As part of the hypothetical Bath PRT network, several sites have been identified as prime locations for ULTra stations. Each of these sites presents unique and different challenges to the designer, and participants may choose to create designs for as many of these sites as they like.
At each site, both the guideway and the stations will need to be designed in accordance with the infrastructure specification. Integration with the surrounding environment will also be an all-important consideration. The designer may make interventions in the surrounding environment — pedestrianising streets or altering the landscaping, for example — but should remain mindful of the fact that all changes to the environment will be subject to public review and feedback.
The specific competition sites are:
- Green Park Station - A major commercial area not far from the city centre, this offers the opportunity for more flexibility with regards to the placement of the guideway and the station.
- St. James's Rampire - A junction close to the city centre which will soon be redeveloped into a new transit node for the city, with bus stops, carsharing locations, and bike rental locations. How can ULTra best integrate into this inter-modal environment?"
- The Riverside near Pulteney Bridge - perhaps the most iconic viewshed in all of Bath, this site should contain a ground-level station in a riverside environment."
- Cattle Market - currently a car-park, this site offers the opportunity for redevelopment close to the historic heart of Bath. The PRT elements of this site must include a bridge, a station, and the transition to an underground guideway."

Vehicle Design
