The transition between spaces reveals windows unfolding a series of different perspectives on the surrounding nature. Thus providing an intimate experience with nature, while also still being in the city.
This project deals with integrating the new transportation infrastructure into the historical context of Bath by organically blending the buildings with the natural environment. Borrowing from traditional landscaping features such as trellis planting on the face of stations, adding planters to accommodate diverse flora and introducing permeable paving features, this project aspires to enhance the traveller's journey through nature.
Bath is an example of mankind's reaction to the natural world. There has always been a focus on healing, worship and social interaction in the city's design. This design hopes to continue this reputation by proposing PRT infrastructure that has a strong connection to the natural world.
"Articulated well the historic aspects of the city and the need to fit into this. Station idea was innovative. Some would say trying to camouflage the station rather then celebrate the architecture would be better."
"The track design is unobtrusive but the stations are a bit like garden centres."
"Design is environmentally-led. Station design is pleasing. Concerned about height of some elements. Like the consideration for other modes, in the form of cycle facilities. Would have liked to have seen designs for other parts of the route."
"Demonstrated some historical and contextual thinking."
"Interesting design of station, but not enough detail to make a real assessment."
