The looks of the vehicle should communicate speed, safety and reliability. The Bath PRT Transpod vehicle, contrary to other PRT designs, has a clearly defined front and back and a sleek, fast design. This accentuates speed and resembles a fast road car. The door opens up a larger part of the interior but keeps rain out. The vehicle is high enough to be able to get in walking. The main two seats face forward while the additional two face in the opposite direction and fold up. This allows disabled to get in with a wheelchair. A large curved window allows passengers to look around and enjoy Bath even when they are still in the vehicle.
The Transpod can be made out of a lightweight aluminium space frame clad with GFR sandwich panels and carbon sheeting. The sun reflecting , laminated glass contributes to the overall stiffness of the vehicle and forms the backbone of the large hinged door. The shark-like front end contains a led headlight as well as sensors for guidance and object detection systems and offers inlets for cooling of the batteries and interior.
"More akin to speed/sleekness, which although attractive was not required for a vehicle of 25mph. Thought had gone into the pod and it would be attractive to board and looked ergonomic and may be less imposing than a box pod."
"Good concept for usage. Considers needs of users with mobility impairments."
"More depth of entry. Detail and thought had gone into the pod design. Very futuristic – not Bath – but attractive/ergonomic. Looked sleeker and less imposing than the Heathrow pod."
