First BAA milestones met

On December 5th ATS successfully demonstrated the first three milestones set by BAA as part of their programme. These were:

  1. Berth to Berth Transit: demonstrating the capability of the vehicle to leave one berth and return to another separate designated berth - representing a typical journey from airport car park to terminal.
  2. Automatic Vehicle Battery Charging in Station: demonstrating the ability of the vehicle to stop at the station and make contact with the specified power point for charging.
  3. Robust Fault Tolerant Guidance: demonstration of the ability of the vehicle to autonomously maintain its prescribed course in the absence of a signal from one of its guidance sensors.

These milestone tests fully met all elements of the defined specification and were met ahead of the original schedule set down with BAA.

The total number of people working on the ULTra project has grown rapidly to around 50. This includes major contributions from several contractor partners.
